Space-time thermodynamics of the glass transition.
We consider the probability distribution for fluctuations in dynamical action and similar quantities related to dynamic heterogeneity. We argue that the so-called "glass transition" is a manifestation of low action tails in these distributions where the entropy of trajectory space is subextensive in time. These low action tails are a consequence of dynamic heterogeneity and an indication of pha...
متن کاملAnalysis of Hierarchical Bayesian Models for Large Space Time Data of the Housing Prices in Tehran
Housing price data is correlated to their location in different neighborhoods and their correlation is type of spatial (location). The price of housing is varius in different months, so they also have a time correlation. Spatio-temporal models are used to analyze this type of the data. An important purpose of reviewing this type of the data is to fit a suitable model for the spatial-temporal an...
متن کاملWormholes record species history in space and time.
Genetic and fossil data often lack the spatial and temporal precision for tracing the recent biogeographic history of species. Data with finer resolution are needed for studying distributional changes during modern human history. Here, I show that printed wormholes in rare books and artwork are trace fossils of wood-boring species with unusually accurate locations and dates. Analyses of wormhol...
متن کاملDynamics of glass relaxation at room temperature.
The problem of glass relaxation under ambient conditions has intrigued scientists and the general public for centuries, most notably in the legend of flowing cathedral glass windows. Here we report quantitative measurement of glass relaxation at room temperature. We find that Corning® Gorilla® Glass shows measurable and reproducible relaxation at room temperature. Remarkably, this relaxation fo...
متن کاملComparing the causal mechanisms underlying housing networks over time and space
This paper concerns the ontology and epistemology of comparative research, which are the foundations of a research strategy. It builds upon a Realist ontology (Bhaskar, 1975, 1979; Sayer, 1984,1985, 2000; Lawson, 1997, 1999) of necessary and contingent relations forming causal mechanisms, in order to extend existing frameworks for explaining difference and change in housing networks. Housing ne...
